Greetings from Lost Wages, ladies (aka Las Vegas)! It was a beauty-full day here in Nevada, from what I hear… I say that because I spent most of the day indoors at Blog World. The conference got off to a killer start. I’m prepping a post with highlights that will go up early tomorrow. If you’re interested in blogging for fun and/or income (not necessarily beauty blogging, but any niche that interests you), you might want to check it out. One of the speakers, Darren Rowse, has been an in
My skin adores MAC’s gentle Volcanic Ash Exfoliator . It makes my face and neck feel softer than a feather boa and smells yummy, too (like brown sugar and honey). But the stuff ain’t cheap, that’s for sure… The tubes cost $20 a pop! To put the price in perspective, that’s enough to get 13 Wet ‘n’ Wild 666 Brandywine lip pencils , yo! Why exfoliate? It removes dead cells dulling the surface of the skin while smoothing and brightening, and if you’re prone to pimples it can also reduce

It took all of two made-for-tv volcano flicks in the ’80s (one about Mount St. Helens and the other about Pompeii) to scar me for life. Growing up near one of the world’s most geologically active fault lines wasn’t half as scary as the thought of mountains spewing lava and ash, yikes! But so far the closest I’ve come to anything volcanic has been my brushes with MAC’s Volcanic Ash line of skin care products. It’s not so much a line as a duo of products, and both are part of the Style Bl

I hope you’re having a great Friday, chicas! How was your Thursday night? Mine was fairly chill. I got takeout Chinese food, played with some MAC lippies and watched Management on DVD. Have you seen it? Starring Steve Zahn and Jennifer Aniston? It flew under my radar when it came out earlier this year, but I liked it way more than I thought I would. I don’t think its Rottentomatoes score does it justice ( 46% ). I’ve been playing with a couple of the lip products from MAC’s recent DSquar
I’m having a blast exploring different ways to wear MAC’s new Style Black collection . Earlier today I tried a bronzy black smokey eye using Mineralize Eyeshadow in Gilt By Association ($20) . It turned out better than I thought it would! At first I was afraid (I was petrified) the slippery Cream Colour Base would look too messy, but I found that as long as I didn’t overuse it, it stayed put reasonably well. This is a look I’ll definitely wear again, maybe with a white, brown or bronze
The holidays coming! The holidays are coming! I can hardly believe it’s mid-September already, and that means the holiday travel season isn’t far away. One of my biggest travel challenges is packing light. I think I’m naturally predisposed to overpack, as if I biologically need 10 different shades of pink lipgloss; maybe it’s a primitive urge to gather? But after a traumatic airport incident a few years back (a TSA agent almost confiscated a baggie filled with Chanel and MAC, NOOOO!), I’

I've been under a lot of stress in the last few weeks, so I have been latching on to any and everything that brings me joy like music (anything from my Dinah Washington collection) books ( I have been re-reading through Langston Hughes ) and Wine Sorbet (because it's damned good - and they ...
